"Casandra was having trouble with her TV reception after a recent storm on the Gold Coast. Her Currumbin Valley home was hit hard and it actually toppled her antenna mast. When we inspected the damage, we found the antenna system was old and broken now from the fall. We helped Casandra with an insurance damage report which was approved. We returned to replaced her digital antenna system including her mast, masthead amplifier, splitter, the antenna and some cabling."
5 TV reception issues caused by nature.
- Strong winds. Like the situation mentioned above, after a day of strong winds we usually get calls to come out and fix a toppled antenna system. This mainly happens to 10ft or higher masts, which are usually old and rusted. Most times we end up replacing the antenna system as a whole under insurance as it's necessary to ensure a good result when dealing with older digital antenna systems.
- Hail. We've see many a digital antenna that's been smashed to pieces from hail. In my opinion these TV antennas were poorly designed in the first place, having plastic parts that have become brittle in the sun over time which in turn have smashed off from hail hitting them.
- Rain. There's lots of tv antennas out there that suffer from TV reception issues after rain and then come good again a few days later. This is usually because the aerial signal booster isn't waterproof anymore and water is getting in and preventing the electronics from working, which in a few days after it dries out can start working again. - Sustained Rain.
