5 Reasons why many Currumbin residents have channel pixelation troubles.
- Currumbin's location. In Currumbin Gold Coast no matter where you point your TV aerial you could be picking up signals from three to four transmission towers which confuses a lot of TV's when you use the auto-tune feature. Ideally you want to manually tune in your TV in this area to the transmission tower your antenna is actually aimed at specifically. (You may need expert help from someone like us to do this.)
- A lot of the existing houses are getting a bit of age deterioration. I find most well-made TV antenna / aerial systems last about 10-15 years and sometimes 20. So if you're home is getting on a bit and it hasn't had its TV aerial and or TV signal booster replaced in 10+ years it could be the reason why it's starting to play up a bit for you. If you're getting channel pixelations on windy days or stormy weather this is a sign that your TV aerial signal is low, and it's only going to get worse.
- Old rusted TV sockets. Check your TV wall plates, make sure they're not corroded or rusty. Areas near the beach your TV wall plates might need replacing every few years or you'll find you might start getting bad TV signal.
- Currumbin Valleys location. If you're in the Gold Coast hinterland there's a fair chance you're going to be getting a low TV aerial signal broadcast to your home. Free to Air tv reception is dependant on having a good line of sight to the transmission towers, or minimal hills in the way. A lot of the troubles can be fixed by installing a powerful TV signal amplifier / booster.
- Vertical polarisation. The main TV transmitter for Currumbin is different from the norm; it's sending its signal vertically through the air. So unlike 90% of the TV antennas which are setup for horizontally broadcasts you'll need a special type of TV aerial for the Currumbin feed. A normal horizontal antenna will still pick up the feed and show the channels on your TV but the signal will be significantly lower than it should be so you'll probably be experiencing channel pixelation and drop outs.
A real-life example from today, 5th March 2019 follows:
"Sicario lives in Currumbin Waters and was having trouble with her TV reception even after an electrician installed a new digital aerial for her while he was doing some electrical work there. What we found when we arrived was the wrong type of antenna was installed for the location, it was pointing the wrong way, the terminations were done poorly and an old-school was used in the roof. Unfortunately this is a common sight when electricians and DIYers have a go and TV reception repair for themselves. Maybe we should start doing electrical work; just kidding. Although Sicario was happy we got her TV aerial reception going again properly she was a little annoyed at having to pay twice for the same job as you can imagine."
