"Mary-Anne wanted to free up some space in her bedroom by getting rid of her cabinet and wall mounting her TV in the corner up high out of the way. We mounted her TV on a small arm bracket so she could angle it down and move it to suit herself. We also had to move the TV outlet and power point up behind the TV so it was a super clean finish with no cabling showing. 5 Common mistakes amateurs make when wall mounting their TV in Currumbin
- They mount it too high. Having your TV mounted too high will give you a sore neck from looking up, it can also prevent professional cable concealment inside the wall cavity in many situations.
- Not securing it to the wall properly. Imagine if you installed a TV on the wall and it fell down and hurt somebody? Nowadays you'll be getting sued for your shotty handyman work. I've seen many unsafe TV and sound bar installation done on a wall by home owners, electricians and builders.
- Mounting it above the middle noggin. If you mount your TV just a little too high you won't be able to hide the cables in the wall, at least not without some serious big hole cutting that you'll have to repair. We see this time and time again in non-professional TV installations.
- Using the wrong bracket for your wall studs. As soon as I see a TV mounting that's off centre it's nearly always because they've used a bracket that's not suitable for the wall and TV together and they've compromised. Many brackets of different size and shape will fit your TV, but only the correct bracket will suit your TV and the wall structure at your mounting location. - Cutting and drilling holes "practice" holes by mistake. If you're not really experienced at wall mounting TVs and soundbars you can easily cut and drill holes in the wrong locations, leaving you repair work to do; Or if you're unlucky you'll hit a water pipe or electrical wire. "Casandra from Currumbin Gold Coast purchased a new super slim Samsung TV that has its own no gap bracket. Casandra's husband tried to wall mount the TV himself but couldn't figure out the bracket (they are overly complicated these ones). Another issue is that we usually need to make a brace between two wall studs to mount the bracket to as it is too narrow for Aussie walls. Once we wall mounted Casandra's super slim fancy TV we helped her tune it in, set it up on her network and go her sound-bar going with it she was absolutely delighted as to how awesome it is and looks."
