Aerial installation Safety
THINKING OF AERIAL INSTALLATION - DOING IT YOURSELF?
DESPITE, LITTLE CHANCE OF SUCCESS, DOES RISKING YOUR LIFE DOING THE ANTENNA INSTALLATION YOURSELF MAKE YOU A HERO?
We don't need to answer that. You either know what you're doing or you do not. And its not all about having a signal meter and having the technical know how. Experience and know how for ladder climbing comes down to experience doing exactly that - it's only after 1000 times of transitioning body weight from the ladder to the roof and then worse from the roof back to the ladder with confidence that we start to feel comfortable. And even then, we practice arduously our policy -"every time! or it may be your last!"
Don't under-estimate the consequences of mistakes!
It could be the last aerial installation you ever do!
Think of:
- Your kids
- Your family
- Income protection - if you get hurt. Are you insured to do this?
- Even if your familiar/comfortable with climbing ladders - are you really going to pull off a successful installation?
- Your health and the risk of injury
- What condition is your equipment in?
- The odds that are stacked against you: If you are distracted by the thought that you don't really know what you're doing = 700% increase in danger to oneself! - You cannot focus on ladder climbing and balance when you're thinking about why it's not working!
"A man in sydney was severly injured last week attempting to do his own aerial installation. The Cambeltown resident said he was good with tools and knew what he was doing. Circumstances turned for the worst when he lost his footing and the ladder slipped out from underneath him" Channel 9 News
