5 Common items we setup for our customers as well as their TV's
- Netflix / Stan. Movies on demand are very popular nowadays, so if you've got a smart TV i'd recommend giving it a go. You will have to connect your TV to the internet though, which is where many of our customers in Tugun get stuck.
- Foxtel Boxes. Typically, when our customers upgrade their Foxtel box it's not a matter of an easy swap over, new, different cables are normally required for more advanced Foxtel boxes. Foxtel iQ4 even requires a 4KHDMI cable, which most homes don't have.
- Sound Bars. "The salesman in the shop said it would be easy, just plug and play". That's what we hear from our customers as we figure out why their new soundbar isn't working how it should. Normally it's because of hidden TV specific settings that's stopping it from working and figuring that out comes with experience.
- Smart TV network connection. TV's aren't as straight forward as they used to be. Many of our Gold Coast customers struggle with their smart phones, let alone a smart TV. They basically mini computers, and you kind of need to know what you're doing in order to connect them to your internet network.
- Optus Fetch and Telstra TV. If you're like many of our Tugun customers and you're not great with technology, then setting up a Telstra TV, Apple TV or Optus Fetch cab be a bit daunting. You may not know what the settings are or how to answer the initial setup questions.
A real-life example from today, 7th May 2019 follows:
"Paul was given a TV and a big box of associated TV equipment to go with it from his friend who was moving overseas. Paul didn't know what to do with it and how to get it up and running, so he called out TV Magic Gold Coast. When we arrived, we found the TV was an old analogue TV and in the box was a digital set top box. The TV seemed to be working fine, but the set top box wouldn't work at all. We ended up supplying Paul with a new digital set top box to tune in the TV channels for his TV at his Tugun home."
"Brendon bought a surround sound home theatre kit from the local TV shop and wanted some help setting it up, so he called TV Magic Tugun Gold Coast. When we arrived, we found that his TV was on the wall and basically it had to come off so we could run a new cable from it to the home theatre amplifier unit. After that was done, setting up the surround sound speakers was easy. Luckily the rear speakers were wireless so speaker cables didn't need to run from the front of the room to the back."
