(5) Common problems with most antennas

1. They rust apart. For some reason, I don't know why, maybe cost saving, nearly all the TV antennas on the market are fitted with parts that rust out, and quite quickly on the Gold Coast with the sea-air. A good TV antenna should be made primarily from aluminium, with the remainder either stainless steel or galvanised.

2. Birds can break them. Birds will always want to sit on your TV antenna. If like a lot of the TV antennas we see installed in Mermaid Waters your TV antenna has flimsy elements on it. After we inspected her TV antenna installation, we found that her signal booster had filled up with water because it was hanging from the TV antenna mast upside down instead of being firmly cable tied on. Because it too was an old TV antenna system, we had to install new cabling down from the roof, a new splitter, a new TV wall plate, and of course a new TV signal booster, otherwise the booster wouldn't fire up do to shorting out issues."
