"Rachell called TV Magic out to her Ormeau Gold Coast home after she moved in and had trouble tuning in a TV. As usual, what we find when our customers have trouble tuning in their TV it's not that they're doing anything wrong but it's because their TV antenna system is not working or there's no antenna signal. Sometimes it's because the 'booster' is missing, or the TV antenna system is really old and 'had it'; Or our customer has plugged their TV antenna cable into the wrong socket on the wall and that's why it won't tune in. 5 things our customer usually have trouble setting up themselves .
- TV recorders. Unless you're TV savvy most people don't really know what they are doing when they try to set up their recorders, they either fluke it or call us in to help. ;)
- Amplifiers / AV receivers. Always one of the most complication and common components we get called out to at Ormeau and other Gold Coast suburbs to help setup and install. I don't know why, but manufacturers have this knack for making these tricky to setup properly.
- New Foxtel boxes. Some customers receive their new Foxtel boxes in the mail and it's up to them to setup and tune them into the TV. But, the new boxes have different cabling requirements which puts off some people we encounter.
- Smart TV internet settings Installing a new home these days is not as simple as it used to be. You have to connect them to your internet network to enjoy the apps and also make your way through a bevy of user agreements and privacy settings.
- Tuning their TV, setting up Set Top Boxes Unfortunately when you use the Auto-tune settings nowadays it may make mistakes and tune into multiple or incorrect transmission giving you weak antenna signal or duplicate channels. A real-life example from today, 2nd April 2018 follows:
"Jason of Ormeau Gold Coast was having trouble tuning in his new TV. It kept of bringing up 100+ channels, which meant up to three sets of duplicates. With Ormeau being located half-way to Brisbane this is a common issue caused by a TV's auto-tune feature. Although you'll only have one TV antenna on the roof pointing to either Brisbane or Gold Coast, what you'll find is the TV's auto-tune will either tune in both or a mix of the transmissions, giving you the duplicates like in Jason's case or weak TV signal. Our TV technicians at TV Magic will always manually tune in your TV's to the correct settings or your home to avoid these situations."
