1. The elements snap off. Often flimsy and weak, cheap antenna's elements are one of the first things to break after birds landing on them. The more that break off, the less signal your antenna can provide.
2. The plastic bits harden and snap off. Cheap antennas have lots of plastic and as you can imagine, plastic left out in the sun for a long time becomes brittle and breaks.
3. Components rust. Many antennas have ungalvanized metals components which rust quickly and can drip rust onto your tin roof which overtime can make your roof rust too!
4. The warranty Guess what? Builders won't stop using cheap, crap tv aerials and antenna boosters because their warranty period end after only 12 months.
