Can you repair old TV Antennas? Most commonly as antennas get old they deteriorate and are not repairable in a way where we can offer a warranty. Generally it is a much better idea to replace new for old when it comes to antenna systems; that way we can give you a 5 year guarantee and we know you're going to be happy long term. The other thing to note is that if your antenna is old than the rest of the system is typically going to be the same age and basically the whole system is causing you the TV signal issues. A bit of wear and tear on each part adds up and the signal at the TV is no longer perfect. Just replacing the antenna on an old system is not usually enough, the rest of the old system still deteriorates the signal too much. Usually when fix TV signal problems on a home in Coomera we install a new antenna, new splitter, new connectors, new cabling into the roof, new wall plates, new cables connecting to your TV, new amplifiers / boosters. Basically, everything gets replaced except the cabling that runs up the walls, which only occasionally needs replacing as well.

How much do you charge? Once we attend your home and inspect the system we'll give you a fixed quote which varies house to house. Some houses are easy to work on and some are very difficult and or dangerous and take extra time and expertise. The cost can vary considerably depending whether you need a need system or just a quick fix. Many homes we find are fixed close to these price points $350, $595 or $125 depending on what's required.

Do you have a call out fee? Typically not, however some circumstances in which it applies we'll tell you upfront on the phone. An example is if you live in a shared antenna system like a high rise and the building is at fault, not your unit you'll be responsible for a call out fee. Another example is if you're renting and you call us out without permission from the owner to have the issue resolved and then not going ahead with the job due to the cost.

How long to antennas last, what is your warranty? In most cases a quality antenna and components should last 10-15years. We guarantee our equipment and workmanship for the first 5 years.

A real-life example from today, 6th April 2017 follows:

Wendy in Coomera called us out because all the TVs at her home were saying "No Signal" After we tested a few of the TV outlets and discovering no antenna signal was coming through we went to investigate on the roof. On the roof we found a very old TV antenna which was full of water along with a booster hanging upside down off the mast. In this situation the antenna, amplifier / booster required replacing and the other components were agreed to be upgraded as well which included the splitter, connectors and wall plates. A very typically scenario for an older home. After completing the work all 4 TV outlets came to life and Wendy was very happy to be able to watch Master Chef again. An upgrade like that will last that home another 10-15 years. Another happy ending for a TV Magic customer.

Having TV reception problems? Pixelation? One channel dropping out or freezing?

Why does that happen? How is digital Tv different to analogue? Why do you only get problems on one TV point or only on one TV channel?

The following videos give you some answer to all of the above. These are very commonly asked questions. Basically, any problems you are experiencing will not fix themselves. They may come 'good again' however, this will be temporary. By Calling TV Magic we can ascertain by using our 'field strength meter' just how good or how bad your TV channels really are. When we test, we are looking to see if any channel is reaching minimum signal requirements. This will make sure there is enough 'head room' for fluctuation for bad weather, trees, a few broken elements and other factors that effect signal strength and signal quality. If these minimal requirements are not met, yes you may still have a 'perfect clear picture' however the BIG QUESTION is; for how long for? Yes your bald tyre does keep air in it and drives your car around, but obviously it's not going to take a nail or a bit of glass on the road as well as a brand new tyre.
