TV Magic has a 100% profit success rate*. There are no guarantees in any business but to date we have not had one single franchisee leave due to a failing business. We have many franchisees who have grown their TV Magic business to multiple vans and now have the privilege of owning a business that keeps ticking over; making money for them, whilst they're on holiday, spending time with family or pursuing personal hobbies. Craig (in Melbourne), has run the majority of his TV Magic business starting after 10am! Craig has operated his TV Magic business for 7+ years now, (and by choice), he is a devoted family man & husband who has taken his daughter to and from school nearly every day, for the past 7 years. He loves that he gets to choose how many jobs he does and only does 1-3 jobs per day between school drop off/pick up and can still make a salary that out-earns his old job (with a third of the working hours!) Brent, another franchisee, recently took an extended over-seas holiday; completely escaping his business, phone & calendar; all whilst his team took CARE OF EVERYTHING and his business just ticked over like clock-work delivering his $350k+ salary (whilst he's on holiday).
Brent still works very hard on the tools in his 3rd van (by choice) as he has many investment property and renovation goals but says "on the rare weeks, it's quiet - I don't mind it at all, in fact I love it, I get to have a break!"

Nick has also built his TV Magic business to the point where he could go completely off the tools (for good!) However, you will find Nick working here and there on projects that captures his attention & interest. Nick says "I love doing BIG jobs that are hard and challenging. I send all of the 'small jobs under $10k' to my team now". Nick has acquired 3x territories and runs 6+ vans and a staff count of 8-10 across 3x territories.
There are multiple other franchisees that have two vans in their TV Magic business; and get to experience the freedom and luxury of owning a business (THAT'S NOT JUST A JOB!) ... and also, their TV Magic business can pay them like 'clock-work' for a week (or even a whole month) if they chose to take time off, go on holiday or relax for a Christmas break etc.
As for the few, 'multiple-van operators' (mentioned above); it should be noted that they all started out as a 'Single-Van' operator - for a period of time.
As for all the other operators (the 'Single-Van' operators); for many of them - they have other goals in life and have no interest to grow their business and are 'just happy' making the money - that they make!
No matter which type of franchisee you plan to become, (and you're allowed to change your lifestyle choices as you please!) ...

POTENTIAL RETURN ON INVESTMENT*
If you've never bought a business before - here are the basics. Any business is valued by an accountant's formula known as "EBITDA". The EBITDA formula basically says: "That a business is worth a min. of 1 year's profit and often, multiple years if it has a strong presence and good will (we definitely have good will and a strong brand!)
Therefore our franchises have been valued (even with a conservative value of 1 year) @ $250,000
Now here's what a good business 'buyer's broker' will tell you; and a business 'sales broker' won't ...
"A golden-franchise-opportunity in the 'owner/operator' business category -
is one where you can recoup your entire, original investment in 12 months (or less). That's when you know the value is stacked in your favour.
If you've done some looking- it's easy to find broken businesses for sale (and motivated sellers) ATTEMPTING to sell their business at a price-point that is "Way Over-Valued"!
These opportunities are available hand over foot. Also, until you've previously owned a business (or three) you're not going to know what to look for- (and know whether the business is broken or not!)
(You also may have come across a particular Franchise Brand's Territory RESALE (where an existing franchisee has already owned and established the territory).
Without proper education, you may actually be better off buying a Green Area!
There always pros and cons with any RESALE (depending on the franchise brand you're getting involved with) but if you're dealing with one of the TOP 10 AUSSIE franchise brands listed here - you can at least have some confidence that they believe in RESPONSIBLE FRANCHISE GROWTH. They will educate you about everything mentioned here and have the experience to guide you in / out of a wrong decision with their own brand or many other brands that they're familiar with. Just like us, they probably won't want to name drop "the bad brands" (but they'll have an awareness and opinion about them!)
If you find all this information exhausting - call a bunch of franchisees! If you want to know the best questions to ask, it would be these two!
- "Do you regret your decision?" and
- "Is the value you receive (from being in the franchise that you're in), worth the fees you pay? "
With so many franchise purchase options available out there - you certainly do not have to overpay for a business / franchise purchase!
And yes, there are franchise opportunities available for $50k (or less), even $25k or $7k! Just know that these are often valued at one year's profit and you should be wary. For franchise systems that have over 100x franchisees - speak to at least 20x franchisees.
If you are looking to own a self-managed business (think retail, restaurants, $500k+ investment etc - the rules are very different and ignore this advice completely). However, if you are looking for that business under $150,000 - a Mobile Service Based business (that often out-earns a retail business!) you have found yourself a pretty good deal when you find a business that has a strong likelihood of paying your original investment back in 12 months or less. Well guess what? Each and every single one of our existing franchisees have done exactly that. For most of them it has been closer to the 6 month mark*.

The TV Magic Franchise started out at $69,000 in 2013 (when we first started franchising). It has crept up (with inflation) to $80k, $89k, $100k (and now $109,975) 12 years later to demonstrate the strength and value of our brand: - when all along, the TV Magic Franchise has ALWAYS been 'UNDER-VALUED' (according to EBITDA formulas and the EARNING POTENTIAL)
So that's some basics for you ..

If you can't tell by now; we have some very happy franchisees! Why is that? Because they're all profitable! (We encourage you to call any or all of them!) All that we ask is that you are respectful of their time, their businesses and their customers. Whilst they are very busy, if you introduce yourself as a prospect they will be more than happy to give you a few moments (when convenient) to share their experience. Culturally they also have a fairly good idea on how everyone else is performing. This is due to our culture’s transparent nature of sharing best practices, the friendly “competitive” environment to keep each accountable; pushing each other to do their best and strive for ever increasing growth.
We also have a handful of franchisees who love the “lifestyle business” they’ve created for themselves. Their partners may have a high paying job and therefore they only need to only work 3-5 hours a day and they are not growing their business – by choice. Whilst they bring the averages down.. for a dollar earnt to hours worked ratio; they are still wildly successful! .. and yes, very happy.
We don’t mind that either. But one thing is for sure we don’t mind who you call and speak to! We encourage it. Because we know you’ll become one of the family and pass that same love down to the ‘new guy’ when you’re further down the road.
