Vehicle Requirements & GENERAL Information

Here at TV Magic, branding and brand consistency is important to us. This actually helps with the growth of your business!
Whilst we have previously lifted some restrictions we have some strict basic policies to ensure that the brand remains consistent.
Reminder: The vehicle is NOT included in the Franchise purchase price
THE HISTORY OF VEHICLE RESTRICTIONS
- 2013 - 2018 - We required all franchisees to get a Hyundai iLOAD (white) no older than 3 years old and replaced before 8 years old
- 2018 - We introduced other brands of vans to the fleet (The van had to be white) including Toyota Hiace, Ford Transit, Hyundai Staria, LDV, VWs, Mercedes Vito etc
- 2019 - We introduced utes to the fleet (Utes had to be white)
- 2022 - We introduced ADDITIONAL APPROVED COLOURS (other than white) - Vans and Utes had to be Black, Blue or Silver.
- 2024 - We Introduced the FLEXIBILITY of ANY COLOUR - however, if your existing Van or Ute is not White, Black, Blue or Silver a FULL BODY WRAP (including roof) must be fitted (@ an additional cost to you) - instead of our 'standard' three-quarter wrap.




MORE INFORMATION
- As per the Franchise Agreement - We must approve the vehicle prior - Inspections will include the age, condition, colour & suitability of your vehicle.
- Vans are HIGHLY RECOMMENDED as they help with the duties/ activities of the business. UTES are a SECONDARY preference. This is due to the VOLUME of rubbish removal, transportation of TVs and A.V equipment. We understand that some franchisees have varying levels of personal / family / children committments and need to have that combination / family car setup. In such cases, we recommend a "CREW CAB" Van setup. This is a preferred option over utes. Crew Cab Vans are more difficult to come across however, any van can be transformed into a crew cab. Crew Cabs do not offer as much space as a regular work van but more space than a ute canopy / ute tray.
- OPTIONAL WORK / Marketing TRAILERS can be purchased (and must be signed) @ your expense. Trailers prove as a great tool for storing all the scrap metal and rubbish you take away from jobs - until you get to the tip. They are also a great LEAD GENERATOR!!! AND PAY FOR THEMSELVES OVER AND OVER AGAIN as a MARKETING TOOL! Please note: Trailers are absolutely not a requirement to have to run a successful TV Magic business.
- OPTIONAL CONSIDERATION FOR YOU - Franchisees are now talking about acquiring LARGER VANS for their future work vehicle - due to the nature of more and more 100inch TVs hitting the market. Whilst there is always a 'work-around'; such a vehicle would provide more convenience on those jobs which amount to less than 3% of all jobs. It is absolutely not a requirement to have a van this big to run a successful TV Magic business.
- Other stats below:-
- 53% of new Franchisees obtain a brand new vehicle with their franchise
- 39% of new Franchisees acquire a "near new" vehicle with less than 100,00k's
- 8% of new Franchisees bring their own existing vehicle to the franchise (subject to prior approval)
- Only 15% of Franchisees OPT to have a trailer but 100% of them agree that it was a great MARKETING INVESTMENT. Please note: Trailers are completely OPTIONAL and not required to run a successful TV Magic business.
REQUIREMENTS OF ANY VEHICLE
Due to the nature of our franchise business and industry - your vehicle will require the following. (It is mandatory as per the franchise agreement.)
- Roof racks
- Ladder slides x 2 with ladder straps
- 4m Conduit Tube
- Min. 1x internal shelf for Vans
- RECOMMENDED (OPTIONAL) EXTRAS include - Cargo Barrier, Tow Bar, Additional shelving for vans
About the Roof Racks and Shelving requirements
- If you are purchasing a new vehicle - these requirements can be financed with your vehicle
- Many of the franchisees who purchase a 2nd hand vehicle - find a vehicle that already has SOME or ALL of these requirements reducing cost/s
- Whilst we do REQUIRE you to have these MIN. FITTINGS - they do not have to BE NEW! Roof Racks and Ladder slides can be a decade or more old and still perform perfectly. A total roof fitout financed on a new vehicle may cost upwards of $4000-$8000. Second hand fitouts can costs $500-$1500.
- If you purchase a 2nd hand APPROVED vehicle (with some fittings already) - the extra costs to fit it up and set it up CORRECTLY may be less than $500.
- Even if you purchase a 2nd-hand vehicle that has all requirements - We find, we still have to tweak the setup for optimal performance for your business.

VAN / VEHICLE SETUP PROCESS
- Training is 2 weeks in QLD (preferred). Whilst we currently have 2x other trainers - One is Melbourne and the other is also in QLD. Our preferred head trainer is in Brisbane, QLD.
- 75% of interstate franchisees bring their vehicle to training (even from WA!) - so that Head Office can fit out, prepare, FILL WITH STOCK and sign wrap your vehicle whilst you're in your 2 weeks of training. You'll be handed the keys to LOANER branded vehicle - to use during training to travel between your accommodation and the job sites/ HQ training site. That way your vehicle is all ready to go by the first day of business.
- 25% of interstate franchisees fly to QLD for training. We wrap your car locally and more details can be shared with you during a one-to-one chat with the franchise consultant.
