The manufacturers and electrical engineers that make an amplifier or a blu ray dvd player have a difficult job. They have to think of a wide range of end users from all nationalities, IQ and age & skill base. If these peices of equipment were too simple, they may be too boring for the technical population. If they are too complicated and jam even more buttons on the remote (we think there is enough already!) than too many complaints would surely arrise.
