  • Any other audio visual equipment

Amplifiers / Receivers: These beasts are complicated at the best of times for everyday customers. Unfortunately in my opinion they aren't obvious to configure or how to use unless shown by an expert. Even then it's easy to accidently push one of the many settings on the remote and mess up the sound output again. Once that happens, which it does, customers don't know how to get it back to how it was. Some models even have us scratching our heads trying to achieve something basic sometimes. Thankfully we know how to set them up in the most straight forward way for people to use and we give great instructions on how to debug it if you accidentally mess the settings up.

Surround Sound Speakers: 5.1, 5.2, 7.1, 7.2, confused yet? The first number stands for how many speakers you have and the second number is how many subwoofers. Your amplifier will dictate what setups it can handle. The trick is knowing where to put each speaker and how to calibrate the amplifier to get the best sound out of each.

Bose Systems: Bose are a breed unto themselves. They are like the Apple Mac to the Windows PC and don't play well with others. Once you know how to set them up correctly they are really easy to use and deliver terrific sound. But, if you need to change your equipment you'll have to get your instruction book out or will have to call in the Nerang Home Theatre and Speaker Installation Technicians TV MAGIC!

Multi Zone Speaker Setups: Things can get tricky when you have multiple speaker zones such as outside and inside depending on how it's been done. The new Bose Sound Touch and Sonos systems make it easy but are high end costly. Traditional multi zone amplifiers are what we encounter mostly in nerang homes. They can be quite technical to setup depending on brand and model of amplifier. Some tuition on how to control your zones will be required too. I wouldn't recommend this the non-tech savvy.

In-Ceiling and In-wall Speakers: These speakers look great and can really save some space and deliver great sound. I'd personally only recommend them as rear speakers in a home cinema setup or as outdoor patio speakers. These speaker require a professional to install properly or you'll end up with a messy finish and or insufficient speaker cabling. Be sure to use a drop sheet when cutting the holes, it's a very messy job.

High End Universal Remotes: Quality universal remotes such as Logitech ultimate provide an easy to use solution to the many remotes involved in controlling a home theatre system. However these high end remotes generally require some skill to setup so call the Nerang Home Theatre professionals. TV Magic.

DVD Surround Sound Combos: A popular choice for customers nowadays that want surround sound but are not wanting to spend thousands. These systems usually come with wireless rear speakers, can player dvd's and blue ray disks. The sound quality is nowhere near as awesome as a proper home theatre system but it's great for the price. They are generally easy to setup too with colour coded connections and limited settings to mess with.

A real-life example from today, 3rd April 2017 follows:

Charlie in Nerang moved house and brought his home theatre surround system with him but quickly discovered a spaghetti of cabling the box and had no idea how to re-hook it back up. Upon arrival we identified exactly what equipment he want installed and where he wanted his speakers. To keep things neat Charlie decided to not hook up his rear speakers until such time as he was ready to invest into running speaker wiring up the walls and through the roof (which we can do). We set up his amplifier, 5.1 speakers, Foxtel, TV and DVD player. When we had finished all Charlie had to do was turn it on and off, all the settings where locked in and he didn't need to mess with the amplifier anymore like at his old home. Charlie was very impressed with the simplicity of how we set up his home theatre and speakers.
