5 Amateur TV Wall Mounting Mistakes We See Often.
- Wrong Bracket. I should say, wrong bracket for the situation. Nearly all brackets will fit your TV and it says it right on the box. But you need the specific bracket to your situation. The TV Bracket that will mount safely according to the wall stud pattern at your desired location, while also keeping the TV as close to the wall as possible.
- Mounted Too High. Most customers will ask us to pick the height for them, however it's a personal preference. We will show you what your TV is going to look like on the wall and you can pick the height that works best for you. Alternatively you can let an amateur pick the height for you, which is nearly always too high, which will give you a sore neck from looking up at it.
- Not screwing into studs. This is a no brainer, but we do see it, usually when it's half falling off the wall. Sometimes amateurs will just use plaster plugs / wall mates instead of properly anchoring into sometime solid.
- Not Level. If it's not level, it's not level! And it looks like crap. TV Magic will never leave your TV wall mounted until it's dead level!
- Cables too short. Amateurs don't seem to have the forethought needed when it comes to being able to use your cables after the TV is wall mounted and the cables are hidden in the wall. If the cables are too short, then what's the point? But we see it. Trust me!
A real-life example from today, 14th April 2019 follows:
"Chris called TV Magic to help his company install a 75inch digital interactive TV screen in their Varsity Lakes office. When we arrived, we found they had a short-throw projector mounted on the wall already which had to be removed by us, and our job, to install a huge, extra heavy TV panel on their flimsy office wall. To do this basically we had to reinforce the wall with a brace and use many more screws than normal to fix the TV wall mount to the thin metal studs.
